Border
Crossing
The easiest way to cross
the border is to fly. Currently there are two entrance points, the
airports Noi Bai in Hanoi and Tan Son Nhat in Ho Chi Minh City.
There is a USD 8 departure tax on international flights.
However, it is possible to
enter and leave Vietnam by land.
Cambodia
If you
already have a Cambodian visa, entering the country from Vietnam by
bus is easily the cheapest (US$10.00) way to get to Phnom Penh. For
buses to Cambodia, look at the section on buses).
Tourists crossing the
border have had difficulties, so make sure your visa allows you to
exit Vietnam overland and you also have a Cambodian visa to do the
same; you can have your exit port changed to Moc Bai at the
immigration office in Saigon. Be prepared for at least an hour wait
on each side of the border. The bus arrives in Phnom Penh around
4:00 or 5:00 pm.
Laos
The border
crossing at Lao Bao is possible, at least coming from Laos. From the
border to the bus station take a motorbike costing around VND 4000.
